Title Seismic waveforms of the Pn-waves and noises obtained in the Iranian Plateau

Description Under the project of the China-Iran Geological and Geophysical Survey in the Iranian Plateau (CIGSIP), the Geological Survey of Iran (GSI), the Institute of Geophysics and Geology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IGGCAS), and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences (IASBS) established three seismic networks during 2013-2018, including 65 and 132 broadband stations in western and eastern Iran, respectively. To explore the uppermost mantle Pn-wave attenuation and its tectonic implications for the Iranian Plateau, we collected the vertical components waveforms of 385 crustal earthquakes that occurred in the Iranian Plateau and its surrounding regions over a time period between October 2013 and June 2018, which were recorded at 197 CIGSIP stations. Pn-wave waveform was sampled in a 0.7 km/s-long group velocity window around the IASP91 first arrival and the noise is extracted before P arrival within a window with equal time length with the Pn waveform. Here, the Pn-wave signals were sampled using a large group velocity window between 8.8 and 6.0 km/s from the vertical component broadband regional waveform data. A time window of the same length was applied before the first P-wave arrival to sample the pre-event noise series. We also add 10% duration intervals both before and after the time windows to apply cosine tapers on the extended portions. We extracted the Pn and noise waveforms recorded by the CIGSIP stations and upload them to this Data Repository. The instrument response file RESP.ALL was also uploaded.

Type All Pn and noise waveforms are stored in the standard SAC format in the folders named “cut_Pn” and “cut_noise”, respectively. The example waveforms from the earthquakes on 2013/11/28, 2016/01/22, and 2018/05/02 are stored in the folder of “example_event_waveforms”. The instrument response file RESP.ALL is stored in the folder of “Response”. The instrument response information for each station includes the response name in the first line, the segment number according to the time interval (1) in the second line, and the start and end dates in the third and fourth lines. The fifth line includes A0, sensitivity (m/s), constant (0.02), the number of poles, the number of zeros, an input unit (1=m, 2=m/s), and input style (D=Displacement, V=Velocity), respectively. The next few lines list the real and imaginary parts of each pole and zero in turn.
